Moon Jellyfish grow (and shrink) in size depending on the amount of food they are given. For this reason they make great starter pets, as their size can be easily manipulated to the size of the tank.

Our jellyfish are sold at a young age, therefore offering you the maximum possible lifespan for your pets.

Moon Jellyfish have some of the longest life spans of any pet jellyfish, and can typically live for up to two years, if provided with  appropriate conditions.

Caring for Moon Jellyfish

This is the most common jellyfish species available and is famous for its opaque white color and relaxing swimming movements. It’s also relatively easy to keep, and capitve husbandry requirements are very well established.

Moon Jellyfish tend to come from cold to temperate waters, and are bred commercially due to their versatility and environmental friendliness.

The Moon Jellyfish we provide are from a temperate environment, and so a chiller is not required for keeping Moon Jellies in any of our jellyfish tanks.

It is important to remember that no chjiller is required for Moon Jellyfish supplied through our store.

Moon Jellyfish can feed on  baby brine shrimp, frozen baby brine shrimp and a number

of other foods depending on their size. We sell a range of foods which provide all the

nutrients your Moon Jellyfish will need.

Moon Jellyfish prefer a slow to medium speed of water flow (or current), which is important for successful keeping. We have a range of specialty jellyfish tanks available. 

Moon Jellyfish Maintenance

It is important to have the correct tank for your jellyfish and regular weekly water changes with saltwater are required; a 10% weekly water change is recommended.

It is very important to ensure that the new water introduced is not warmer than the water in the tank. The same goes when first purchasing your jellyfish; the temperature in your bag should be the same as the aquarium the jellyfish is going into.

New water that is cooler or the same temperature as the water already in the tank is OK.

Otherwise, Moon Jellies are really maintenance free. As long as water temperature is below 25 degrees Celcius, you just leave them there and do nothing - 

no skimming, no expensive circulation pump, and minimal requirement for lighting.

Below is a list of items required to successfully keep these fascinating creatures, all of which are available at our store:

-Tank specifically designed for housing jellyfish.

-Saltwater for weekly 10% water change.

-Hydrometer for maintaining salinity levels (1.023 at 24 degrees Celsius).

-Thermometer to ensure water temperature stays between 18-25 degrees Celsius.

-RO (reverse osmosis) water for top ups due to evaporation (salt does not evaporate).

-Marine water test kits including pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate (required levels: pH 8.0-8.3; ammonia 0; nitrite 0; nitrate below 20ppm).

-Correct food.

-Length of hose for syphoning out water and excess food.

-Cleaning pad to ensure inside  glass of tank is kept clean.
